Fact …. AT&T management and maintenance employees at the Birmingham AT&T Data Center use Nextel Direct Connect.  

 

 

Saw it with my own eyes this weekend.  Had a call for an emergancy back-flow problem at the Data Center this past week-end.  In the 18 hours I was there,  I saw 4 upper management and 10 maintenance employees all working for AT&T carrying, what I would assume, company issued  Motorola 580′s with Nextel service along with their AT&T phone.

 

When I asked the head of maintenance about it, he said they tried AT&T’s push to talk, but they couldn’t get it to work inside their building.  They do however, plan on switching to regular walkie talkies in the future.  LOL
