I have a friend who has a Nextel phone (not sure on model number, but I know it is a Windows Mobile phone) Motorola, flip style that’s about all I know off the top of my head.
Â
My question is when he sends an MMS to ANYONE he gets an SMS back saying that they viewed the message, so if someone was to say to him, I didn’t get your message he then whips out the phone to prove to us that we got his message.
Â
I want to know if there is some way I can prevent my phone from sending him a read receipt for when he sends me an MMS, but I have a Blackberry Curve on the Sprint side, and he says that it does in on ever MMS he sends to anyone, on any network or phone.
Â
Can’t this be turned off by each individual user? I have all my notifications and read receipts set to off, yet he still gets an SMS whenever I view one of his MMS messages.

The inadequacy of 3G networks to carry data and video for large numbers of handsets simultaneously is hurting the performance of the Apple (AAPL) iPhone. The problem only starts there. The weakness of 3G networks has also likely undermined the consumer’s opinion of new products from RIM (RIMM), the Samsung Instinct, and a host of new products from market leader Nokia (NOK).
Â
None of the consumer electronics companies banking on 3G to drive handset sales to pre-recession levels are going to be able to count on their carrier partners for services that will show off the best features of phones that can download and manipulate files, access the internet, and play video. (See pictures of the iPhone.)
Â
The Wall Street Journal reports that the iPhone is so feature rich that "the resulting growth in downloading and Web browsing will strain AT&T’s network." AT&T is not alone. Sprint (S) and Verizon Wireless (VZ)(VOD) are up against the same problems.
The promise of 4G wireless networks, which should operate at speeds five to ten times faster than 3G, may be years away. Sprint is testing WiMax ultra-fast broadband in several cities, but there is no guarantee that the technology will work in nationwide rollout. AT&T and Verizon are preparing technologies which are supposed to offer similar results. (See the top ten gadgets of 2008.)
Â
The handset and cell industries face a particularly vexing problem. The current 3G networks are not powerful enough to allow consumers with advanced handsets to take advantage of all of their features, especially networks strained by huge transfers of data to and from handsets. It is a problem that cannot be solved soon enough to keep customers from being disappointed because the phones they have purchased will not work well on the services they have subscribed to.

Yeah thats true , 1 in every 5 americans are dropping the land line phones.
Check to see if you have the latest version of the firmware:
Go to Home > Settings > Phone Information > Version
If the software version is not LX400V14, then follow the steps below to update your phone.
To begin the update from your phone go to Home > Tools > Update Phone > Update Firmware.
Some of the issues that have been fixed with this software update:
- Increased default chirp sound level.
- Random powering off and on.

So let’s see. According to this article, first Verizon produces an app for their BB lineup that allows BB users to update/pay/etc their various accounts using their BB device. Well, now AT&T has an app for their iPhone users. Funny, but Nextel allowed their userbase to make minor modifications to their account, pay their bill, etc.  I should know, I was doing that back when I had an i1000plus, let alone on my i90c.
Â
Anyhow, perhaps SprintNextel should put up a commercial about how SprintNextel was the first true service provider to do that, AND that Sprint gets it done FASTER than anyone. It’s what’s happening NOW.

It all started with a typewriter:
"Alone in a room in his home in Bonn, Germany, Friedhelm Hillebrand sat at his typewriter, tapping out random sentences and questions on a sheet of paper. As he went along, Hillebrand counted the number of letters, numbers, punctuation marks and spaces on the page. Each blurb ran on for a line or two and nearly always clocked in under 160 characters.
That became Hillebrand’s magic number . . ."

Well, lets see what happened last quarter (i.e. Q1 2009)…
Â
 – Sprint-Nextel financial losses increased (up from losing $505 million in Q4 of 2008 to losing $594 million in Q1 of 2009)
Â
 – Post-paid (contract) subscribers losses increased (up from 1.1 million lost in Q4-2008, to 1.25 million lost in Q1-2009)
Â
 – Pre-paid customers increased for a net addition of 764,000 prepaids (all on the iDEN side)
Â
 – Churn increased slightly (up from 2.16% to 2.25%)
Â
 – Capital spending was down 79% over the year-ago period, and capital expenditures are expected to remain flat for 2009.
