Peeved – LG Rumor 2 Earpiece issues

July 1st, 2009 No comments

Alright, I haven’t been a Sprint customer for the longest time, and I guess I’m technically not. I’m under my aunt’s family plan which I help to pay for. I bought my own phones (first and Rumor, then a Rumor 2) and I was happy with both phones I’ve had until now.

The first phone I was in an accident with and it broke, which is fine, it was an accident, beyond my control. Luckily, the new LG Rumor 2 had just come out so I opted for that. Which I love, I absolutely adore my phone, except for one thing… the earpiece’s sound decided to just stop working.

I have not dropped my phone, it has not gotten wet, I’ve been absolutely meticulous with with and yet, the earpiece is not funcitoning properly. I can barely hear it. I’ve attempted everything, I’ve turned the volume up to maximum, I’ve checked to make sure it’s not on headset only mode, I’ve checked to make sure that the blue tooth settings weren’t on since I don’t have one… Hell, I even tried switching things on and off all day. I took out the battery for an hour, I just tried everything I could possibly think of. The speaker phone works, but the earpiece does not.

What do I do? I really don’t feel like paying the $100 deductible for getting a replacement, even though I have insurance, which according to my aunt I would have to do. Which, no offense Sprint, is bull. No other phone company I’ve been under has made me pay that to get a replacement, at least not a first replacement, which I’ve only had to do once andwas under Verizon. I’m good with my phones, and I am rather peeved that my earpiece isn’t working, it’s an inconvenience.

I’d rather not have to go to a Sprint store since, even when NOT crowded, the one near me takes FOREVER to even service you and since it’s under my aunt’s family plan, I know how you wireless companies play things, I won’t be able to do a thing about it unless she’s there. We both work.  We’re barely home at the same time, see my issue?

If someone could help me, I’d really appreciate it, because it truly has me peeved.

Thank you in advance.

LG Lotus Side buttons won’t ignore incoming call

June 26th, 2009 No comments

Hi,

I have an LG Lotus and when I receive an incoming call that I would like to ignore or silence the ringer on, neither of the side buttons will work. I am using my own custom ringtones that I have loaded into my phone. Is that causing the problem? My previous phone was a wonderful Samsung A900 and you could hit either of the side buttons to silence or ignore incoming calls. I know others with a Lotus who are able to do this. Any suggestions on what could be causing mine not to work?

Thanks for your time and help!

Lotus screen problem: Sprint warranty service?

June 23rd, 2009 No comments

I’m surprised to see no rants about the screen problem on the Lotus since there are quite a few on LG’s forum at

http://www.lgcommunity.com/Forums/tabid/55/afv/topicsview/aff/8/Default.aspx and even a few on Facebook’s Lotus page at http://www.facebook.com/lglotus?ref=ts

Anyway, my daughter’s slightly less than 2 months old Lotus developed a problem where the inside screen will go black and you can’t see anything. Sometimes even the outer screen goes away. Rebooting will bring the screen back temporarily. The guy at the Sprint store said he could get us a refurbed unit in 2 days, or we could check with LG customer service about a new one.

LG customer service (online chat) said that we’d have to send the phone to them for repair, and if they couldn’t fix it they’d send us a refurb and this would take 10-14 days. I let them know what I thought of that!

At http://support.sprint.com/doc/sp12554.xml?id16=warranty#__highlight Sprint says

"Sprint will cover the manufacturer warranty for mechanical or electrical failure for one year from the original activation date at a Sprint service location."

So shouldn’t Sprint offer a NEW replacement rather than a refurb? Heck, so should LG, but this is the Sprint forum so I’m looking for customer service here, since I pay Sprint every month. :) I’m obviously not getting anything from LG.

LG Lotus custom text message tones?

June 21st, 2009 No comments

I have figure out how to get custom ringers w/o the internet plan. Now I am trying to figure out how I can assign custom text message tones w/o using the inadequate Voice Memo recording method.

Does anyone know what format they need to be, I am assuming small wav. but they seem to be stored on the phone and not the memory card.

Texting on the Rumor

June 18th, 2009 No comments

I recently noticed that a friend of mine recieves my texts, but when he replies I don’t get his texts. My sister and I both have the same phone, and same service from Sprint, but for some reason I don’t get his texts, though she somehow does. He uses AT&T, I don’t know the type of phone, not sure if it matters, my sister and I use the Sprint Rumor.

Any idea as to why I can’t recieve his texts? But my sister can?
